ABOUT ME

I am always enthusiastic to work with individuals who are facing challenges in life, eager to learn lessons, and move on to the next level of their life. I feel fulfilled when I see clients walk away lighter, freer, happier, and excited to live their own personal journey after healing from wounds, disorders, and struggles on their path. I am here to help you bloom into your best self by providing you with a safe place to reconnect with your inner self. I can help you nurture your inner world, heal your past, and learn how to develop a loving relationship with yourself and the important people in your life. By using a variety of treatment modalities, we will go into your past to understand your present and change your future. In a safe and supportive environment, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my patient' individual needs.

Licensure

I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C*) in private practice in Phoenix, Maryland. My Maryland license number is 15911.

*LCSW-C clinicians have an advanced academic degree and at least two years of supervised clinical work experience. Also, LCSW-C practitioners have passed a national licensing exam and hold a clinical license.

Education

  • MSW (Masters of Social Work), Portland State University, OR
  • MA (International Studies), University of Oregon, OR
  • BA (Sociology and Anthropology), Linfield College, OR
  • AA (International Studies and Russian), Ricks College, ID

My Success Story

I came to study in the US on a full four-year college scholarship when I was 17.  I left my family 10.000 miles away, in Bulgaria. I graduated with honors from a top private college (Linfield, OR) and later completed two Masters degrees with a 4.0 GPA. After working at a few counseling centers and gaining sufficient clinical experience, I opened my private practice in Maryland in 2012 and have been happily practicing since then.

Yoga and Meditation

Lately, I have been spending the majority of my free time meditating for long hours. I love getting up very early in the morning for my Hatha yoga and meditation practices. Doing my Surya Kriya while meeting the sunrise has become my favorite part of the day. By the time I see my first patient at 7am, I have usually spent a good 2-3 hours in meditation, which is what truly helps me be the best therapist and human being I can be. I often go to Isha Institute for Inner Sciences in McMinnville, TN to volunteer, get an inspiration, and learn new meditation techniques from my guru, Sadhguru.

My Family

My husband is a music theory Professor at Towson University. We have two wonderful home-schooled children. Our extended families live in our home country, Bulgaria (Eastern Europe). Every summer we go to the beautiful island of Kauai where we love swimming with the giant Hawaiian turtles, chasing double rainbows, hiking, river kayaking, and snorkeling in the coral reefs.
